#HappyBirthday Corrado Fabi, 63. He drove 12 #F1 GPs, 9 for Osella (’83) & 3 for Brabham (’84), subbing for his bro Teo when he was on #IndyCar duty. But that was the end of Corrado’s F1 stint. He did some IndyCar, some #F3000 , then retired. Pic: Osella FA1D, Monaco, ’83 (DNQ).

Remembering my childhood hero Carlos Reutemann, born #OnThisDay in ’42. Here he is using all the road, but no more, in a Porsche 928 S4, which he was road-testing for #QuattroRuote magazine. He told journalist Peter Windsor that it was the best-handling road car he’d ever driven.

Remembering Robert Manzon, born #OnThisDay in 1917. He started 28 GPs, all but 5 in French blue Gordinis, bagging 2 podiums: Spa ’52 & Reims ’54. #AnorakFact : he died in 2015, the last surviving entrant of the first ever #F1 world championship (’50). Pic: Gordini T32, Reims, ’56.

#OnThisDay in ’55 Jean Behra won the non-championship #F1 #PauGP in a Maserati 250F - one of 12 non-championship F1 wins despite his never winning a championship F1 GP. F1 debutant Mario Alborghetti, 26, the son of wealthy parents, was killed in his own Volpini-Arzani Special. 😔

#HappyBirthday Peter Windsor, 72, a dear friend & a truly great #F1 journalist throughout a long & ongoing career. His #Autocar GP reports in the ’70s & ’80s won awards for their ground-breaking innovation, & I was proud to hire him to #F1 Racing in ’97. Pic: Silverstone ’83.

Remembering Pete Lovely, born #OnThisDay in ’26. He entered 11 #F1 GPs, starting in ’59 & ending in ’71, & - #AnorakFact - he shares with Jan Lammers the distinction of racing in 3 F1 decades without scoring a world championship point. Lovely name though. Lovely transporter, too.
