An animal sanctuary in Kent has rescued two lions from the war in Ukraine. A lioness called Yuna has already arrived at the Big Cat Sanctuary near Ashford and a male lion will join her in a few months.

The first of two lions rescued from Ukraine has successfully arrived in Kent after leaving war-torn Kyiv. Yuna, a three-year-old lioness, has shell shock but it is hoped she can now heal at her new home at The Big Cat Sanctuary in Smarden. Read more 👉 bbc.in/3ArJP9v

A three-year-old lioness - who was rescued from the war in Ukraine and brought to an animal sanctuary in Kent - has taken her first steps outside. Yuna was traumatised when she first arrived but is now doing much better.
