About to tune into UC Center Sacramento’s event featuring Marc Berman and Senator Tom Umberg. Looking forward to hearing about how factors like COVID-19 will shape the #2020Election. USC Center for Inclusive Democracy’s Mindy Romero will also be joining the discussion!
Marc Berman highlights that California has existing policies to ensure citizens can safely cast their ballots. He says, “Since we already had much of the infrastructure in place, it was much easier to ramp up vote-by-mail in response to COVID-19.”
Senator Tom Umberg referenced other bills such as SB-72 that allows eligible voters in California to register to vote on #ElectionDay and SB-423 that would help to ensure every voter in California can safely vote in-person.
A reminder from UC Center Sacramento's event: CA citizens can track their ballot and correct problems on their ballot to ensure their vote is counted in the #2020Election! sos.ca.gov/elections/ball…
Excited to publish this new paper on trust in elections with CassidyReller and Anthony Anderson: sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
Excited to see Nhat-Dang Do (professor at Trinity College, UCSD alumn) present his excellent research on RMIGs (racial minority interest groups) at Arizona State's Kopf Conference, "Puentes: Bridging American Politics' Interest Group and Institutions Research."
Could Donald J. Trump campaign echo Pete Wilson's 94 CA Gov bid & alienate Latino voters long term, asks Thad Kousser?
Gov. Jerry Brown's appointment of Ryan M. Martin to be CA's new A.G. gives big platform to one very talented Latino leader at the same time...
...that it opens up a Congressional seat opportunity for John A. Pérez, perhaps California's most talented legislative leader of past decade
