We launched the Climate Action pledge with H.E. DPM Ato Temesgen Tiruneh, gov officials, ambassadors, the UN & partners by planting 2K trees at Gulele Botanic Garden as part of the Green Legacy Initiative. This rainy season, we aim to plant 5 m seedlings in refugee-hosting areas!

Today, we are convening the first consultation forum with federal and regional leaders to discuss the Transformational Growth & Sustainable Development Plan for the Amhara Region (2018-2042). We are stewards of a rich land, a hardworking people, and a nation with a bright future.

UNHCR built 10 new classrooms at Alidhuh primary school in Mirqaan, Somali 🇪🇹, creating new space for 400 refugee & host community students. But more support is needed to build additional classrooms for 2,500+ students who are learning outdoors at the mercy climate conditions.

We Refugees and Returnees Service - RRS participated in this year's natl green legacy initiative. The entire RRS family have planted over 223,346 seedlings to implement the govt’s pledge on climate action & also contributing to the green legacy program. Dillo site in Oromia's Borana Zone gets much needed water tnx to Refugees and Returnees Service - RRS, #UNHCR & #Caritas_Switzerland, benefiting 1,535 refugees & 1,500 hosts. It provides 20 ltrs of water per person per day. Officials & experts from RRS, UNHCR & Caritas Switzerland have been on the spot.

🏅Join us in congratulating Gatluak, a South Sudanese #refugee awarded with 2 gold Medals in food science & nutrition from Gambella University 🇪🇹 He is among 375 #DAFI supported students who graduated this year. Other awards include work in sociology, rural development & maths.

I was to Returnee Reintegration Project Office @ Gulele as part of the formal opening of its Office. Reminded the staff that hard work is the basis to better achievements & encouraged 'em to see the big picture. Established in 2018, RRS-PMO has evolved through various phases.

Today, I attended an event @ #Adama where Korean Republic handed over rice for refugees hosted in Somali & Afar regional states in 🇪🇹. Refugees and Returnees Service - RRS thanks #Korea for the donation & #WFP for coordinating the initiative, wc helps the effort of meeting refugee food standard.

UNHCR appreciates the significant steps taken by the Ethiopian Government and Refugees and Returnees Service - RRS towards allowing refugees to access legal employment opportunities, enabling them to sustain their families and to contribute to the country's economy.

We Refugees and Returnees Service - RRS held an in-depth discussion on our current performance & future plan. We've highlighted achievements & challenges in addressing the expanding refugee operation in 🇪🇹. We also agreed to strengthen coordination, enhance M&E tools & ensure livelihoods for PoCs.

I attended an exhibition showcasing products made by refugees. One of the exhibitors was Maher M. Alwan, an Iraqi refugee & visual artist, who presented me with a beautiful painting. I feel proud to see refugees engaged in livelihood activities thanks to Directive # 1019/2024.
