Our arts council children have had a fabulous day taking part in different textile workshops University of Huddersfield as part of our Weaving Together a Story of Place project. Our Year 3 felt is now dry and has been placed on display in our gallery space. We have some very proud children and teachers, today. What a fab day with yr3melthamce making flags inspired by Roman textiles for their #History lesson. Using vegetable dyes to colour the background, they printed their own Roman inspired symbol onto linen, wool & cotton, then added some gold "metal of the gods" leaf #textiles
The difference in our children’s sewing abilities after a year focusing on our textiles curriculum is phenomenal.Y5 have worked with local artist,Julia Roebuck Julia Roebuck They learnt about make do &mend during WW2 &it’s relevance in current times & the fast fashion craze
