The milkweed returned from the roots with many more stalks. These are orange Tuberosa milkweed buds that will open soon.

The Bee Balm that was grown from seeds last year has returned from the roots and is now blooming. This is an easy to grow perennial that attracts hummingbirds, butterflies and of course bees.

I let a few parsley plants flower for the swallowtail butterflies. It is a host plant for them.

Bloom Struck Endless Summer Hydrangeas. They grow well on the east side of the house where they receive a few hours of gentle morning sun.

The air temperature has been so hot that the impatiens never fully recover. This is a pic of an impatient the next morning after it was watered in the previous evening. I may stop planting impatiens in subsequent summers.

Sun burnt rose leaves on a bush on the south side of the house. Roses are very durable, but we have had many days in a row of 100 or more degrees.

Plumeria is one of only a handful of plants that is thriving in the heat this summer.

Crape Myrtle is another plant that is doing well in this heat. This is a Black Diamond, Mystic Magenta Crape Myrtle.
