First opinion of the day is FDA v. Hippocratic Alliance (the medication abortion case). As we predicted on Strict Scrutiny Podcast Court holds that the the petitioners lack standing to sue. But don't breathe easy yet. This case will be back before SCOTUS with better plaintiffs ASAP.

The Thomas concurrence in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine is ... something. A 🧵 In his concurrence, Thomas takes aim at the Court's third party/associational standing doctrine. What is this doctrine?

The Supreme Court issued its decision on mifepristone access. On today’s reaction episode, Jessica Mason Pieklo and Imani Gandy is at BlueSky Now breakdown the unanimous ruling in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine ruling that was written by—yup—Justice Brett Kavanaugh. rewirenewsgroup.com/2024/06/13/mif…

SCOTUS' decision maintaining access to mifepristone was the only sensible outcome — and good news for today. But we know this is a long fight. As we have done for more than five decades, we stand with our grantee partners to protect reproductive freedom for all people.

BREAKING: #SCOTUS has dismissed Moyle v. U.S., allowing doctors to perform emergency abortions in Idaho. While the decision temporarily overrides Idaho's restrictive abortion ban, this ruling does NOT address the conflict between state laws and federal EMTALA directives.

Today's SCOTUS decision to dismiss the consolidated cases Idaho v. US and Moyle v. US instead of affirming that ETMALA requires hospitals to provide stabilizing abortion care means threats to pregnant peoples' lives nationwide are far from over. ibisreproductivehealth.org/news/ibis-resp…

In answer to a question lots of people are asking about what happens next re: EMTALA. We already have a ruling form the 5th Circuit saying EMTALA does not preempt the TX abortion ban. If the 9th Circuit rules that EMTALA *does* preempt Idaho’s ban, well then we have a conflict…

I cannot believe these are our options. I know there’s a lesser of two evils and that the next president will likely nominate more SCOTUS Justices, so it’s important to vote. I just cannot believe these are our options.
