SI cover in 1966. Mount played for Purdue and averaged over 33 per game. I'm sure he is proud of the Boilers advancing to the finals. Congratulations to the Huskies, the best men's team in college basketball. The game is the thing.

Most coaches watch a competition differently than fans. Instead of being emotionally involved with who is winning or losing, they focus on why something works or doesn't work and whether they can apply what they see to their own team.

I appreciate that while Gino disagreed with the call, he was gracious in his remarks following a disappointing loss. He has things in perspective, and so does his best player. Referees aren't the enemy; the lack of opportunity to play in these situations is.

I don't trust adjectives to make a point. If I asked a coach about a player and he said, 'She's wonderful, enthusiastic, and patriotic,' I wouldn't know how tall she is, whether she had arm speed or set the ball. People with insight are specific. We rely on adjectives to BS.

Based on his grammar, misspellings, incorrect capitalizations, unnecessary modifiers, and lack of research into the State of Nebraska, I never wonder if the former President writes his own tweets.

Sooner or later, some wag will say, 'But she couldn't play in the NBA,' revealing that they totally miss the point.

Kent Pavelka zach Dalton Knecht-3 Two years ago, Dalton averaged 7 points a game for Northern Colorado. (I watched him get 7 against Tim Miles' team, San Jose St., last year in Greeley.) He was not their best guard. What a transformation.

When we glorify or demonize athletes, we set ourselves up for mischaracterization. I like celebrating behaviors such as effort, preparation, performance, respect for the opponent, and humility. But I don't expect anyone to be perfect in what I value. We are wonderfully complex.

Finding an AD who can relate to donors, understand the challenges of head coaches, and embrace the culture is hard. I don't know what the tipping point was for Trev. Not having a President in place will make finding the next AD difficult. We can't afford to lose talented people.

Talented people (Ted Carter, Ronnie Green, Trev Alberts) leave a team when the leadership above them loses sight of the team's purpose. The team is the University. When the leadership cuts funding, and undermines the team's purpose with political dogma they leave.

Trev has earned the right to be considered for any position he wants. I have tremendous respect his talent and character. What leaves me curious is the amount of impact the governor in Texas has on both A&M and UT. Governors have decided whether to hire or fire a football coach.
