I booked today as a vacation day, because it was three years ago today that my dad passed (not COVID-related, just age & a multitude of health stuff). But in the heaight of pandemic, we didn't do the stuff we would normally do for reasons ...

...that go far beyond the pandemic & aren't really the point of this.
But it did leave things feeling unresolved in a way that I hadn't realized until after the wave of grief hit this year on the anniversary of when I last saw him (more than a month before his death). ...

So I took today to say my goodbyes in a way that fit both who I am & who he was.
Morning prayer at the cathedral, followed by walking the labyrinth there. Faith was always a key part of his life. I learned that from him, but the labyrinth was for me. ...
