I don’t want to hijack Dr Selbi Durdiyeva 🌻🍉’s rant, but I’ll allow myself one connected side-rant: I am also done with those who hate on anticolonial thought by claiming articles like this can’t / don’t exist bc it is only concerned with ✨ the West ✨ for ideological reasons

This is why the "post-Soviet/FSU" moniker is so reviled. Kazakhstan, Georgia, Estonia (to name a few) have very little in common besides Ru/Soviet imperialism trying to subjugate them. We don't need to keep viewing these countries through the lens of the aggressor.

Aliide (@aliide_n) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The imperial aggressor has even less in common with those they are trying to subjugate. Eradicating a culture and imposing your own is not sharing something in common with the culture you are attempting to eradicate

Every year: striking disparities in the allocation of research funding across the European East-West ‘divide’ at the ERC, no systematic mitigation of inequalities

Read my argument on why russia is the most dangerous and undemocratic out of all former soviet republics and why democracy is impossible without decolonisation. Thank you Körber-Stiftung History & Politics

Just found this important work by Elena Zacharenko and colleagues, taking a close look at the persistent socio-economic inequalities within and around the EU, particularly the impact of East-West labour migration and resulting brain, youth and care drains

This is amazing, just for how brazen it is: the leader of Germany's Conservatives blaming every major problem in the country on migration, instead of on the lack of spending by his own party. It isn't migrants who are taking housing stock and hospital beds, but hey, hate sells.

Chances are somebody knows a lot about this, so I shall ask: Is it a part of European Research Council (ERC)´s mission to mitigate regional disparities in allocation of research funding it provides?

Joanna Karolina Malinowska (@jk_malinowska) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I would love to see some numbers when it comes to the relation of 💶 transferred to ERC from each country and 💶 they get back from ERC in grants (ideally, considering each country’s budget for sciences, GDP etc). I have the feeling that CEE is funding grants for European West 🤣

Congratulations! What a (sadly) important and urgent line of inquiry, looking forward to the findings and issues that this project will raise
