Follow for hopefully original tennis takes. I saw 1980s tennis on free 🇺🇸 TV as a kid, then fell in love with the sport in the ‘90s. No A.I.-aided posts.

I especially appreciated Andy’s honest appraisal of the ATP Tour Finals. His sentiments are valuable when we are confronting the injuries and attrition that happen now, in the liminal events of October and November, well past the conclusion of the U.S. Open.

I'm sure Rotterdam, Golden Swing events and Dallas (that just obtained a 500 license) will be thrilled with being effectively killed off by this new development.

If ATP was hellbent on Saudi Masters it should have replaced Paris. FFT owning both a Grand Slam tournament and an M1000 is too much. Not even USTA does it anymore, having sold Cincy. And with tax rules in place in France, players would rather earn prize money elsewhere.

He still hasn’t. He was already a top 3 player and a slam winner when we still had Hamburg as a masters 1000 tournament and he never won it, so even now he hasn’t won all masters technically.

This is not at all a dig at this tournament, but lowkey I think indoor courts are depressing looking. They build a court inside a giant lifeless arena and drape black curtains around it to make it look like they didn’t just build a court inside a giant lifeless arena

Sinner just hit an ingenious inside out backhand from the center of the baseline, sent off the court at the side & service line—brings it to 1-1 in the 3rd set. That was an Agassian angle.

Coaching Alcaraz: October/November is vulture season. All the greatest stat padders have this liminal stretch of the schedule circled. Carlitos—you got a fine start in Tokyo, but the bland work is not done. Nobody is watching; it doesn’t matter how you look. Stay sharp & cheap.

The average rally length of hard court masters so far in 2025 is 3.98 shots. Approx 70% of points are in the 0-4 shot range. The idea that modern tennis is dominated by 'long rallies' doesn't hold up & is probably simply because people have a memory bias for long vs short points

Saudi Arabian tennis is set to exterminate the passionate South American tennis fandom and a vast swath of claycourts that will never return once they are gone. Cement is eternal.
