High holy days schedule for Temple Israel Ottawa

Canadians’ hearts are with the Jewish community in Pittsburgh today, as they endured a horrific anti-Semitic attack while at prayer. May the families of those murdered be comforted, and may the injured recover quickly and fully.

I have often found comfort in the words of the poet Edmond Fleg: “I am a Jew because in all places where there are tears and suffering the Jew weeps. I am a Jew because in every age when the cry of despair is heard the Jew hopes.” With hopes and prayers for peace and healing.

The beauty and calm of Saturday’s Shabbat morning service was shattered as we heard the news of the shooting and tragic deaths at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh. Words cannot express the depth of our sorrow. Our hearts are with the Pittsburgh Jewish community.
