Pretty powerful. We host Camp Enrich throughout the district, one location being Alice D. Contreras Elementary School. We had such a great turnout from this campus, as you can see in this picture. I’m so thankful for the collaboration with this campus as we seek to serve students.

“Unless kids are consistently engaged in challenging work, they will lose their motivation to work hard.” (Winebrenner & Brulles, 2012).

It’s been a fun week working with teachers at our G/T Academy sessions. It’s one of the best times of year to get to know teachers and their needs when trying to reach advanced and gifted students. Thankful for these teachers and their time this summer!

I’m always convicted when I read what Renzulli speaks to regarding the main purpose of G/T programs/services… “to increase the world’s reservoir of creative and productive people.” What meaningful work we do! A great goal to work towards with each student we lead.

So much to do as we get the year started. My team has worked to promote critical and creative thinking in and out of our services. Through our thinking labs, and using tools like depth and complexity, we are excited to build great student thinkers throughout the district!

We kicked the year off by discussing our why. Now is a chance to reinvest in our work. We discussed the greatness of Olympians & our hope to be a catalyst that propels our students to success. I’m so thankful my teachers took on fun challenges today to echo our vision for 24-25.

Had the honor of presenting to AP teachers. We talked about setting expectations for the curriculum, the students, & the why behind this offering. Getting great teachers together tends to lead to great ideas & a celebration of great practices (& several convictions for myself.)

New year new opportunities! We have a great team of hard working teachers & we get to work with amazing students. Our teachers & leadership team are meeting with principals, setting up rooms/service logistics, helping with welcome back week at campuses & more. Let's go 24-25!

STEM challenges and team building are a great way to start building a culture of thinking and enrichment in G/T class. Great job Eagles!

Had the honor of visiting Ms. Stanley at Carter Park Elementary School today! Her G/T students were writing with critical thinking prompts, presenting their thinking to peers, & engaging in a variety of challenges as a team. I loved seeing students engaged, writing, & showing their thinking!

Thankful to see students thinking rigorously w/ Depth & Complexity at Rolling Hills ES. Ms. Schoen is leveraging this thinking tool to guide students in a leadership project. Did you know leadership is a defined dimension of g/t by TEA? Love seeing our future leaders grow in G/T!

So awesome to see ideas for projects and enrichment turn into reality and student products. I’m so thankful for schools and educators who partner with us to bring this to students. We want to build engineers and a culture of critical thinkers/ problem solvers.
