One of the good things about being obsessed w/writing my book is I have no more no space in my brain for anything else. Everyday it’s…writing, get groceries, writing, figure out dinner, writing, hi kids everyone ok?, writing, check off stuff on to-do list, writing!!!! :)

I have a friend coming over so naturally I’ve cleaned and tidied the house within an inch of its life. I look forward to saying “sorry about the mess” once they arrive.

My 3 year old today: where do babies come from? What I thought I'd say: open and accurate yet age appropriate response What I actually said: your food's getting cold.

Sometimes the thing your story needs comes to you when you’re not writing, when you’re just thinking at night and listening to the ghosts. Don’t underestimate the work you do when you’re not in front of your narrative.

Of all the manuscripts I've edited over the past year, I've had maybe one or two that DIDN'T have a prologue. Writers love them, but agents hate them. Does it really hurt your chances of landing an agent if you keep your prologue? Do you HAVE to cut yours? 🧵 1/?

A thing I love about being done with breastfeeding is being able to have a second cup of tea or coffee without having to do some crazy mental maths. But on the other hand, my caffeine and biscuit intake must be through the roof... 🤔

My husband turned to me with trepidation to say that our kettle has died, and if we don't hurry I may have to go without my ten cups of tea for a bit. He blinked in astonishment as I walked past him and put a pan of water on the hob. Tea anyone? 🫖🤣
