A big day in Adelaide with Shadow Minister Amanda Rishworth MP announcing that an Albanese -Government if elected will fund The Y to ensure 15,000 young people over the next 5 years are trained and supported into care careers. (Also with Louise Miller-Frost, ALP Boothby candidate).

For over 170 years, The Y has existed to support young people and local communities across Australia. We know there’s a huge demand for care workers and many young people wanting a care career and the Y Care Career initiative can fill this gap.

Wicked problems require an innovative, long-term solution to help address this disconnect. We welcome the announcement from Shadow Minister Amanda Rishworth MP MP that if elected they will invest $15.2m to support the Y Care Careers.

We’re excited about the potential of this investment and look forward to working with young people throughout Australia who are passionate about a career in care.

And it’s happening! The commitment from the Albanese Labor Government to support Y Care Careers, will create a much-needed pipeline of 15,000 young workers across childcare, disability care and aged care. Thanks to all of those who backed this important work. @Y_Australia
