TTI wilderness therapy programs are not accredited by the state. Most people see 'accredited' as a guarantee that a program will be safe and effective for children. This is part of the marketing tactic.

I would recommend Will Dobud PhD's work on wilderness therapy & forcible transportation, as well as the work of Marcus Chatfield and Heather Mooney. You can listen to the BBC podcast here: bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0f… #BadPeople #TroubledTeenIndustry

Children are still dying in the #TroubledTeenIndustry 💔 The urgency for #SICAA and state reform has never been greater. It makes me so sad that deaths have to continue to occur for the world to pay attention to the dangers of the #TTI #StopInstitutionalChildAbuse I am sending

Continuing to follow the trails carolina investigation… Today I sat down with a former resident who says “I tried to commit suicide twice after leaving. Trails didn’t cure me. It made things for complicated.” We’re sharing his story tomorrow at 5 on Spectrum News 1 CLT

For years, WBTV News chief investigator Nick Ochsner has been reporting on Trails Carolina, a deadly wilderness therapy camp. As we keep exploring ways to get our stories to new and younger audiences, here’s our latest ‘Tok Q&A on the process behind the reporting:

Clark Joseph Harman died 6 days before his 13th birthday. Say his name and never forget it. Rest in peace, Clark. You deserved so much better in life than this. #breakingcodesilence

“Infuriating” is one the words that comes to mind for me too. I’ve arguing this to challenge the dominant narrative that this shit works for nearly a decade. I’m glad grown ups are entering the discussion

Great to have ongoing media coverage of the troubled teen industry. A new documentary is coming out in a couple of weeks on therapeutic boarding schools. The cult-like aspects, manipulation, abuse, institutional betrayal, all important themes #TheProgram youtube.com/watch?v=qUvj2d…

“I just didn’t understand why the people that were role models in my life, like my parents, I just didn’t understand why would any parents send their kids here? Why would anyone want to work here? How would anyone think that this place would help me?” wbtv.com/2024/02/22/sha…

Appalled by NATSAP’s response to tragic death at Trails Carolina. It ignores crucial details: a mysterious 911 call, disturbing condition of the victim, and staff not speaking with authorities. Deidre Henderson Mike McKell, did you ask why kids are dying? #JusticeForClark

"At least a dozen children have died since 2000 at the [#WildernessTherapy] camps which dot the American landscape and are just one feature of the multi-billion dollar #TroubledTeenIndustry" #StopInstitutionalChildAbuse dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1…

Why is #WinGate using the website for its closed #WildernessTherapy program as a referral site, benefiting from the use of Utah Department of Health and Human Services seal to appear like they are legitimate family advocates?

Looks like some of my research got used in this discussion. That's pretty nice, and proper reference would help to. Still, nice to see people not dropping this tragic story.

The facility, Elevations RTC in Utah, is part of the same company as a wilderness camp in North Carolina where a 12 y/o boy was killed earlier this year. The company is backed by a private equity firm and runs a dozen programs nationwide nbcnews.com/news/us-news/t…

For this facility Elizabeth Chuck and I investigated — Elevations RTC in Utah — we found only one of 28 school districts knew that staff had gotten in trouble for violating mandatory child abuse reporting laws Elevations has received at least $4 million from public schools since 2016

Following the death of a camper and revocation of its license, Trails Carolina's property is for sale. bit.ly/3z5UPcE
