Really interesting paper in Nature Immunology today (Broquet et al.) They found that people who recover from sepsis have a reduced cancer risk in the years that follow (vs. matched people with non-septic infections): This was recapitulated in a controlled setting in mice - mice

Didn't notice until today, but my paper made it to Chemical Science's "Most Popular 2023 Materials Chemistry Articles"! Check out the collection: pubs.rsc.org/en/journals/ar…

Now that the celebrations are over and I finally have time to make this post, I am happy to announce that I defended last Tuesday and have a fancy schmancy PhD to show for it! I can't believe my 3.5 years in Dallas zoomed by so fast and it's already time for the next adventure.

As I begin this new chapter of my life at USF, I'd like to close out my previous with a big thank you to @Gassensmith lab for being such an integral part of my foundation as a (hopefully) future scientist! Special thank you's to my amazing mentors Sneha Kumari, PhD and Thomas Howlett! ❤️

It's almost poetic that I get to share this work on the day of my doctoral hooding — my fifth first-author paper is now out in Infectious Diseases! Here, we report two new membrane protein tuberculosis antigens and explore their immunogenicity. Read here: pubs.acs.org/doi/full/10.10…

Our latest collaboration with the @Gassensmith lab shows the value of taking porous materials in new directions, and the importance of creating new structures. Congrats to Yalini (Yalini Wijesundara), Niyati ((COF)fee o’clock), Ryanne (Ryanne Ehrman) and everyone!

Just dropped a new video + blog post with ariel for RSC Applied Polymers, and we had a blast making it! 🧪✨ We went full infomercial mode to show off how these dynamic foams achieve next-level expansion & mechanical properties: tinyurl.com/balloondogfoams Smaldone Lab
