I had the honor this week of greeting and introducing VA Secretary Doug Collins Denis McDonough at a meeting of Veterans Affairs service center managers held here in City of Bloomington. I so appreciate the work done at Service Centers, and of course the service of our vets and their families.

The ribbon has been cut and the flag is officially flying outside of City of Bloomington’s newest fire station. Congrats to Chief Ulie Seal, the command staff, and all members of the Bloomington Fire on the opening of our new Fire Station Number 4. Thanks for keeping Bloomington safe!

At Monday's Council Meeting, I was honored to present Mayor Hiromichi Tsuji a special proclamation celebrating the 30th anniversary of City of Bloomington's Sister City relationship with the city of Izumi, Japan. A special relationship between neighbors more than 6,000 miles apart!

Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre was in MN last weekend. I spoke at an event here in Bloomington, as did City Council Candidate Isaak for Bloomington City Council. I took a picture of Isaak from the stage at the same time Jeff Wheeler of the The Minnesota Star Tribune took a picture of me taking the picture.

The mental health crisis is endemic. This bold and innovative program demonstrates once again City of Bloomington's willingness to lead on challenging issues. This will save lives and I'm proud of the work of Bloomington Police and the strong partnership with Bloomington Public Schools. kstp.com/kstp-news/top-…

Started my Saturday at an inspiring celebration of our veterans, and ended the day at an equally inspiring celebration in support of the work done by VEAP. Spending time with people who challenge and inspire you is always a good thing.

Why are the entire Minnesota State High School League basketball and hockey tournaments televised, but only the football championships? US Bank Stadium was built as a football/television studio so it should be easy to set things up. I’m sure it would out-draw another rerun of How I Met Your Mother. Anyone?
