Parents love to believe their kid is the top athlete — no matter the sport — even when the game tells a different story. Pride’s normal, but inflated expectations hurt development. Be real, build the weaknesses, and let performance speak louder than parents.

A lot of hitting coaches, parents, players are posting videos of the player crushing balls in the cage, but then those same players hit .200 or less during their seasons. It’s a reminder that cage swings don’t matter nearly as much as game performance.

Dont give up players. Keep pushing yourself as you never know when it all comes together. Everyone is on a different time clock. Don’t compare yourself to the best players. Worry about your growth through hard work.

People say kids today are becoming “showcase players" — focused on numbers but not always learning the game. Chasing goals is fine, but baseball is still about instincts, competing, winning for your team, and playing for more than just yourself. THOUGHTS?

I see so many leadoff walks at the high school level, and 8 times out of 10 that run comes back to score. Nothing flips momentum faster than giving away free bases. Stop helping the other team. Attack the zone, force contact, and make them beat you instead of beating yourself.

HS Athletes: If only 7% of you will play at the next level, can you HONESTLY say that you’re out working 93% of the rest of the high schoolers in the country? Talent sets the floor. Character and hard work set the ceiling.
