CALL TO ACTION We are looking to raise awareness of the disparity in diagnosis and treatment of learning disabled people with suspected Coronavirus. We are asking for your support and ideas on how WE can ALL show the learning disabled community that we value their lives

Without the right support and understanding (and even with it sometimes) life can definitely be a challenge for many PDAers. It’s why more understanding of PDA is so desperately needed.

My son has been really wanting to experience more of the sensory tastes and smells of plants lately so together we planted an edible, scented trough for him to enjoy full of herbs and scented and edible flowers. #autism #SensoryExploration

Just want to take a moment to thank all the amazing UK teachers. Many parents understand your concerns about returning to school. Please let's not let policy makers/media turn us against one another. Let's create a groundswell of mutual support & understanding. We ❤️ U!

Nothing has changed has it Harriet Harman? There is another way to do this without the abuse. Beth's amazing life now is proof of this. Reviews and evidence fixes nothing. Exposure and pressure does. We will keep shaming thisbroken system.

It’s been a tough week for my son. Getting his new computer has temporarily thrown him off balance. This quote from him a couple of years ago really sums up his week. He really wants to be happy about having this new toy but it’s hard for him right now. #PDA #autism

It saddens me that this post remains so relevant even though I wrote it two years ago but here is this weeks #flashbackFriday post ‘One Mums view on pathological demand avoidance.’ thelearningcurvepda.com/2018/06/06/pat…

I asked this question two years ago and this pandemic gave me a conclusive answer at least regarding my son. He has blossomed under the lockdown, loved the quieter streets and space people are giving each other. Read the full blog post here = thelearningcurvepda.com/2018/05/08/if-…

Unconfirmed but apparently #Dominicummimgs child is #autistic. The rules for autistic people were changed on April 9th so dates don’t add up. Please don’t insult all those families with autistic children who have struggled or lost relatives to Covid and still stuck by the rules.

Yesterday I bumped into an old friend and we chatted (at a safe distance) it came up in the conversation that my son had been diagnosed as autistic. ‘But aren’t we alla bit?’ No, no we are not. Resharing this open letter to my friends as a result! #Autism thelearningcurvepda.com/2019/10/06/an-…

This video was written and presented and starred in by a teen I am lucky to know. It always fills me with so much joy to see autistic young people raised with love and awareness so they can develop an understanding of who they truly are. Enjoy. #autism m.youtube.com/watch?v=4rKct2…

With lockdown easing I can feel my sons mask being used more often again. I wrote this blog on masking and PDA specifically a while ago. #autism #pda #masking thelearningcurvepda.com/2018/06/24/mas…

Understanding that a child is not ‘choosing’ to be defiant when they simply can’t comply with what is expected of them is key to building a trusting relationship ❤️

Post office worker this morning thanked me for obeying socially distancing rules this morning and was almost in tears as she told me of the abuse she has had over the last couple of months from people not wanting to #RetailWorkersAreKeyWorkersToo

I thought exactly the same thing. If you tested positive for covid the first thing you would do is call them it seems super weird to instead contact a government official and give them their email addresses and phone numbers!

My son always has the blinds down because he has large pupils that don’t close as far as most and so that couple with sensory sensitivity means the light hurts his eyes. It means he misses out on the view of the sea from his window. #autism #LightSensitivity
