When I hear "Batman", I see Norm Breyfogle's drawing. He was one of the foundational people for me in understanding the character. His Batman was dynamic but also human and not afraid to show some vulnerability. Immense talent, gone much too soon.

I’ve noticed some comic fans don’t want to engage with anything before the 2000s. Anything 2000s and onwards isn’t for the sake of reading, it’s simply to keep up with discourse and regurgitated talking points. This is part of the comic community’s literacy issue.

Something I like about Marc Sasso's Batman vs. Captain America promo art for DC vs. Marvel from 1995-1996 is that he went to the effort to show the contrast between the two heroes' cities. Cap is in New York while Batman is in the gothic nightmare that is Gotham.

Re-reading Hush and comparing it to H2sh you can tell how far the Batman mythos has fallen. Like yeah the mystery in the first one is terrible but it’s truly the last big storyline of the Dennis o Neil era of Batman. H2Sh is the result of not following this format unfortunately
