In one of the worst tax Facebook groups, someone lamented that doing a balance sheet for an entity return is a waste of time and not efficient. They wanted to know the “tax reason” for their existence. This makes me so sad for our profession. I also want to C230 §10.35 them!

Good advice!

Conference organizers: The more sessions you allocate to vendors selling to attendees, the fewer attendees you'll have. It's a downward spiral. Stop it.

A tax professional conference should have (1) robust networking opportunities, (2) business & practice management education with best practice sharing, (3) high-quality technical tax education, and (4) optional opportunities to connect with vendors. It should not be eight hours

On a related note: as a CE instructor, I agree formal technical education is important. But informal education -- networking, information sharing, communities like Incite Community -- can be extremely impactful and worth every dollar.

Throwing this out there. Just because you have a louder voice doesn't mean you have the correct message.
