I’m not surprised that HiTop Alex doesn’t get Nolan’s Batman. Alex, and many fans like him, treat the character as sacred and are very protective of his image. Nolan’s final two films, represent what we love about the character but are very critical of the idea of a Batman.

If we’re doing this, the point of that closing speech in “The Batman” is that it is the culmination of Bruce’s character arc. Bruce began the film as a creature of vengeance, realised the limitation of that, and became a symbol of hope. Superman doesn’t really change or grow.

Darkseid is still a fascist in ZSJL. He still wants to take away free thought and individualism from all life. A perfect antithesis for that series’ Superman and Justice League.

the thing about the SUPERMAN speech is that he proclaims what makes him human is his ability to learn from his mistakes, but because Gunn wrote Lex to be behind everything, Clark never actually made any. he's never forced to reckon with his choices, because he's left off the hook

As much as I enjoy the antics of the D-list Justice Gang “I’m goddamn Mr. terrific” et al, they take up so much screentime it’s another thing preventing Clark from having the nuanced arc he deserves. If there’s a reason the ending speech feels hollow for some, that’s partly why.

I hate everything about how they handled her character. There are things that irritate me about the film but this is the only thing I actually HATE about it.

I've never understood this complaint about THE DARK KNIGHT. Batman's use of surveillance to unlawfully eavesdrop on Gotham civilians is clearly portrayed as defeatist. Batman's actions result in an amoral victory, which serves as the catalyst for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

This line of thinking is stupid. Superman has been around for 86 years. Do you think for those 86, every version of Superman carries the same basic principles or aesthetics or ideas? He wouldn’t have lasted through time if that was the case

I’ve been in literal life or death situations and taking care of a newborn is still the scariest thing that has ever happened to me. Still worth it tho.
