On the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, a white supremacist killed 3 people in Jacksonville. My thoughts are with those who lost loved ones and the Jacksonville community. American University, we will continue to work to confront hatred and create a welcoming community.

Our 130-year-old scarlet oak – D.C.’s official tree – was damaged in this past weekend’s storm. Thanks to American University crew who worked all weekend to care for this tree and many others across our campus arboretum. On my morning walk, campus was as beautiful as ever!
