Last week, our life skills students participated in the Area 5 Special Olympics. We had 9 athletes compete! We are so proud of the amazing work they did and how well they represented SHHS. We will celebrate our Special Olympians next week with a Breakfast of Champions.

Sylvan Hills High volleyball team will host a camp for rising 5th and 6th graders this summer. The two-day camp will take place on June 4-5 from 8am until 11:30am each day. You can register and pay on site during the camp. This is for boys and girls!

This week, our Life Skills family planted a tree in honor of their teacher Ms. Robin Dunlap. This will be a great place for her students to sit, remember her and enjoy a peaceful moment.

Our FACs (Foods, Safety, & Nutrition) classes have been hosting a "Burger Wars," with all of Ms. Cummings' classes. This week, they had some celebrity guest judges who came to judge the finale! Thank you to Sgt. Mayo for providing prizes for our top burger!

SHHS AP language students are reviewing for the upcoming exam using the COLLABORATION strategy of WICOR. The students paired in groups to participate in a Synthesis Carousel Activity where they rank the effectiveness of thesis statements & evidence for an AP essay prompt.

American Music and Dramatic Academy visited with our vocal and drama students to conduct a Master Class on performing arts. The ADMA instructor used our students' performances to discuss techniques and the audition process in today's world.

We held our Senior Awards Ceremony on Thursday (May 1), recognizing all of our amazing seniors and their accomplishments this year. Nearly 75% of our senior class received an award! We're so proud of the Class of 2025. Go Bears!

SHHS rising senior Nathan Lam has been selected to participate in the Arkansas Children's Research Institute Summer Science Program.Thanks to Arkansas Children's for providing students meaningful educational experiences.

Congratulations to the two Sylvan Hills High students who earned the Arkansas Seal of Biliteracy for demonstrating proficiency in English and one or more other languages by high school graduation. Outstanding accomplishment!

The Philander Smith Director of Choirs presented SHHS Senior, X’Zavier, with a full scholarship to Philander Smith University! He also informed X’Zavier he would be touring and performing with Philander Smith Choir in Los Angeles and surrounding areas this summer at no cost!

Make sure to congratulate our Girls and Boys who competed in the 5A State Track Meet last week! We had 5 girls and 13 boys qualify for the State Meet, and based on their performances, we expect 6-7 to be invited to the Meet of Champs!
