It's nice to see bipartisan support for Jews but this congressional bill to expand the definition of antisemitism is bad for the U.S. and bad for Jews. This country was literally founded on the idea that there should be no government reprisals for speech, including hate speech.

It does not help those of us who are calling out anti-Semitism on campuses and pushing back against this vile form of bigotry more broadly for legislators to enact laws placing viewpoint-based restrictions on speech. We can fight bigotry without trampling the First Amendment.

Here’s a good indication of what’s going wrong in higher education:

66% of U.S. universities require a DEI course to graduate, according to Speech First.

Only 11% of private and 31% of public universities require a course in U.S. government or history, according to American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA).
