Say what you will in (often fully justified) criticism of X and other social media platforms, they enable smart, dedicated, courageous people like Christina Buttons to disseminate important news and valuable analysis. Here's a great example.

Anti-Catholicism was 'the anti-Semitism of the intellectuals' ... until anti-Semitism once again became the anti-Semitism of the intellectuals.

At some point--not now, while the place is on fire, but at some point--we in academia have to have a sober and very frank discussion of how things went so badly off the rails in our collective house ... and how responsibility for it is to be apportioned.

Praise to Randall Kennedy of Harvard Law School.

First, he is a fine, genuinely truth-seeking scholar. More to the point for purposes of this comment, he courageously stands up for academic freedom for all. He is himself on the progressive side, yet he calls out discrimination…

Some folks on X are downplaying the courage Uri Berliner modeled in blowing the whistle on the deep ideological bias of his employer, NPR. I can only imagine that these are people who haven't themselves lived and worked in the milieu in which he lives and works. He's a brave man.

Whoa!!!

This is whistle blowing on ideological bias at NPR on a whole new scale.

My hat is off to Uri Berliner. This took guts.

Straightforward, decisive refutation of the claim that sex is 'assigned' (as in 'assigned at birth'), plus a cogent warning of the dangers ideology poses to the integrity of science.

The great civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer was one of the 20th century's heroes and prophets. In 1971, when the movement to legalize elective abortion in the United States was in full swing, she boldly bore witness to the profound, inherent, and equal dignity of each and…

Thanks, X, for my free upgrade to whatever the status is that's represented by the little blue checkmark (or, to be precise, the little white checkmark in a blue field). I gather that it means my tweets (are they still called that?) can be longer.

I'm delighted to see this richly deserved recognition of my dear old pal Professor Bill Allen--truly a scholar's scholar. Bravo! An excellent choice by the Lynde and Harry Bradley Foundation.

As Prof Byrne and Dr Hooven note, the problem with saying 'sex assigned at birth' is that sex isn't assigned at birth. Indeed, sex isn't assigned. (Nor in humans can it be changed.) You can't make reality conform to ideology by manipulating language. 'Facts are stubborn things.'

Interesting that those who rashly accuse others of 'bigotry' for declining to share their moral and political opinions fit the dictionary definition of 'bigot':

Bigot (noun)
bi-gət
1. A Person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices.
