The celebration of #WomensDay24 and Gender Equality Month led us to the vibrant Nakawa market where UN Women Uganda and The Institute for Social Transformation, with core funding from Sweden, are supporting women vendors to transform from being informal small-scale vendors to formal sustainable enterprises.
And today it was my turn to leave the Embassy for a field visit with Sweden in Uganda colleagues to mark #WomensDay2024 . Thank you The Institute for Social Transformation & UN Women Uganda for arranging the meeting with a group of very empowered women vendors at Nakawa Market.
It is all about women this month! Today, a team from Sweden in Uganda visited women in Katwe who are participating in the 🇸🇪 funded women empowerment initiative by UNFPA Uganda working with aidsinfocentreuganda. Their stories confirm that investing in women is building a better future for all!
Next stop in celebration of #WomensDay24 and Gender Equality Month: Makindye where 2,700 out-of-school adolescent girls & young women at risk of sexual exploitation (the majority of whom identified themselves as sex-workers aged 15 to 24) were mobilized and trained in SRHR (1/2)
