I saw the tweet "Labels are for soup cans." It reminded me that my professor Kim Reid had a huge sign on her door that said "Labels are for Boxes." She always wrote dis/Abilities... so the focus would be on what kids could do! Let's pledge this year not to label kids!

Very timely while report cards go home and parent teacher conferences are underway. Such a key opportunity to learn from each others knowledge and to strengthen student success. #parentengagement CoConstructED Northern Lights

Today Northern Lights staff participated in a variety of professional development. Staff @nsescoldlake engaged in hands-on math activities to support student learning in the classroom and/or as intervention. Staff had a fun and competitive time!

Literature circles are a powerful way to create a space for students to talk about a book. These students were discussing the characters and the problems they were facing. The conversations were rich and engaging! Northern Lights HEB School

The Kodiaks by David A. Robertson will be on our next Battle of the Books list with Cold Lake Library for 2025. A signed copy by this award-winning Indigenous Canadian author would be amazing!
