Excellent piece by @jonihle highlighting the structural issues that make it tough for scaling companies to raise finance in Ireland. thetimes.com/world/ireland-…

Great read Johncollins Ezenduka Plenty to work on to make Ireland’s Angel investing ecosystem stronger👇🏽 “However, if we’re serious about creating more globally successful Irish start-ups, everyone in the ecosystem should be doing more to encourage the practice.”

“As O’Brien wrote: “The emotion of performance supersedes truth or accuracy,” and just as at ringside, everyone’s along for the ride.” Markham Nolan ☘️ deftly compares McMahon + Trump’s ringside antics and their ripple effect. Worth the read 👇🏽

Speaking personally: this is an unbelievably bad decision. NDRC ran well and was very positive for the Irish tech ecosystem. So much government enterprise support is ineffective, so killing one of the few things that was really working (+cost a pittance) is frankly tragic.

This is objectively a bad decision. NDRC was the only thing of its kind in the Irish ecosystem and did some great work for founders. Did anyone in gov stop to ask founders what they think?

Yes, we did this. This is us sending a message to the incoming government that we want Ireland to be a better place to build a technology company. We have a long way to go. Over 400 local founders, employing 8,000+ people, with €2.4 billion raised, want our government to
