This is one of the most dangerous anti-democratic pieces of legislation in recent times which seeks to criminalise dissent - and Government is trying to rush it through before the opposition organises. Please RT & ask your MP to oppose it next week #PoliceCrackdownBill

Jeremy Corbyn (@jeremycorbyn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Policing Bill represents a dangerous creeping authoritarianism. We must keep up the campaigning against the Bill - and resist future Tory attacks on our civil liberties and human rights.

George Monbiot (@georgemonbiot) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This should be all over the front pages. The government's terminating our right to protest, through amendments sneaked into the Police Bill at the last minute. It's the biggest assault on democracy in 70+ years, and hardly anyone seems to know. My column theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

Protest isn’t a gift from the State – it’s our fundamental right States have an obligation to facilitate protest, not suppress it. Yet this is exactly what the Government’s new Policing Bill seeks to achieve Pls sign the petition and help #killthebill action.libertyhumanrights.org.uk/page/78339/pet…

So we can’t ask which journalists attended an illegal party because it happened within the rules, even though it also didn’t happen. We can’t disrupt by protest or we might be jailed. And if a court found in our favour the government could overrule its judgement. We’re fucked.

So because a bunch of unelected right wing zealots trashed the economy, we’re back to austerity & all its miseries? Please RT if you want a general election now.

Caroline Lucas (@carolinelucas) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Anything other than a #GeneralElection2022 is undemocratic. It’s not just Liz Truss’ breathtaking incompetence, it’s the chaos & division amongst the Tory MPs behind her and anyone else they pretend is a “unity” candidate to replace her. 3 Tory PMs & 4 chancellors in 1 year? No.

Carol Vorderman (@carolvorders) 's Twitter Profile Photo

I've signed. Rishi Sunak said this week that "nobody wants a general election". Well it seems that more than 110,000 people do so far. If you'd like to, then add your signature here ⏬️ to CALL AN IMMEDIATE GENERAL ELECTION And RT🙏🏼👍🏼 petition.parliament.uk/petitions/6419…

Everyone needs to see this Channel 4 News report by Matt Frei Watch how terrorist Israeli settlers terrorise Palestinians with fear and death forcing them to leave their homes, sponsored by the UK. A drip genocide taking place over many decades

ayan. (@artan_ayan) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The Director of the UN's New York office just resigned after thirty years at the organisation over the UN's handling of the ongoing genocide of Palestinians. The entirety of his resignation letter is a necessary read but this first page blew me away.

Israel shot and killed a child in the occupied West Bank, and when his dad went out to try and help his boy they shot him too. The Israeli army then prevented an ambulance from reaching the boy for over an hour.

Jeremy Corbyn (@jeremycorbyn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

This is a war on civilians. On doctors trying to save lives. On aid workers trying to feed Palestinians. On teachers trying to put a smile on the faces of children. This is a war on humanity — and our government should never be forgiven for its contemptible complicity.

Caroline Lucas (@carolinelucas) 's Twitter Profile Photo

UK govt must stand with others in international community making clear that extreme Netanyahu govt attacking Rafah breaches international law - there is no safe place to “evacuate” to. How frightened must children there be? UK Govt must stop grim complicity & end arms sales now

George Monbiot (@georgemonbiot) 's Twitter Profile Photo

The sentences handed to the five Just Stop Oil campaigners are utterly disproportionate. Four and five years in prison for peaceful protest? This is what you might expect in Russia or Egypt, not in a supposed democracy. theguardian.com/environment/ar…

Keir Milburn (@keirmilburn) 's Twitter Profile Photo

Five years in jail for planning peaceful protest is not just an outrage it’s completely incompatible with democracy. We need a new democratic settlement in this country which includes the right to protest, and shifts power away from the elites that anti-protest laws protect

1. I’m sorry to return to this question, but I think it hints at everything that's wrong with our media and public conversations. *When did you last hear a critique of capitalism on the BBC?* A thread/
