Over a decade ago, I was proud to introduce the bill that gave 16 and 17-year-olds the vote in Scottish elections. Young people here have a stake in shaping our future, and it made Scotland’s democracy stronger. The UK is finally catching up - this change is long overdue.

Many ordinary folk across the Southside have for ages now been showing support & solidarity for Palestine with flags and home-made posters in their windows. That they’re now, overnight, considered criminals shows just how absurd this ban on legitimate protest is 🇵🇸

My letter to UK Gov Minister Steve Reed asking him to retract his false statements about the condition of water in Scotland. IWC was able to report we’re in a much better position than rUk with 87% “high” or “good” status. Public ownership works. scottishgov-newsroom.prgloo.com/correspondence…

If Keir Starmer believes in a respectful relationship with Scottish Government, he needs his Environment Secretary to retract his totally inaccurate comments about Scotland’s water. Our rivers are cleaner, our bills are lower - and public ownership delivers for people, not profit. 👇

With only 1 year to go until Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, say hello to the #Glasgow2026 official mascot - Finnie 🦄✨ What a way to mark this special milestone by celebrating creativity & inclusivity of the Games with a new mascot, imagined by 80 children from 24 schools.

The scenes in Gaza are horrifying to watch. Israel is deliberately starving civilians. Children are dying as food and aid are blocked. Nothing can justify it. Enough is enough. The UK government must force Israel to let aid into Gaza, and the killing must stop. Now.

Urban trees have been installed around the city centre as part of wider efforts to expand Glasgow's tree canopy. Standing tall in attractive planters, the greenery adds a splash of colour, while also offering environmental and air quality benefits. 🌳 glasgow.gov.uk/13445

This is desperate - he’s selectively focused on water usage, meter coverage, and leakage. There are very good reasons why these are higher in Scotland What matters is water quality, environmental performance and price. Scotland performs better on all three

TELEPHONE ISSUES all incoming calls to council services affected. Our alarm receiving centre can see calls coming in but can’t answer. This includes calls from service users with a Community Alarm. We will send responders out to check on their well-being. Further update to follow

I welcome the UK Government’s commitment to recognise the State of Palestine, but it shouldn’t be subject to conditions. It must be unequivocal, irreversible and backed by sanctions on Israel. Israel must agree to a ceasefire now and allow more aid into Gaza to stop starvation.
