I’m so torn right now. I came into Twitter a skeptic 20 years ago. But I soon found my professional community here. I was thrilled to be part of Twitter chats with peers from around the world on important topics.

I was thrilled that i actually had been to the birthday party of Evan Williams right before he co-founded Twitter, as a plus one to a mutual friend. Ugh. Name dropping.

For a time, I made Twitter a #socialmedia mission. To grow my followers and demonstrate my #PR capabilities… growing to more than 15,000 followers as a non-celebrity and without buying them.

But things changed along the way. Twitter became a place of vitriol. And it was sold off to the highest bidder. Who decided to change the ethos and change the name.

Family and friends who had previously relied upon Twitter to stay up to date on news and trends and friends decided to drop their accounts.

And now it’s probably time I dropped X too. I don’t turn to it to crowdsource ideas anymore. Frankly, I don’t trust much of this crowd anymore anyway.
