We are very excited to see our latest paper online in nature. Great effort by Sungchul Kim, @l_loeff and the rest of the team. The paper sheds light on how bacteria memorize enemies using the #CRISPR #Cas1-Cas2 complex. disq.us/t/3maq49d

Cas1/2 can anneal ssDNA and gets spacers from diverse, partially duplexed DNAs. DnaQ exonucleases then trim spacer to appropriate size for integration, with the PAM-proximal end protected to ensure proper orientation. A great read on biorxiv last year and nice to see in print!

Many surprises on SMC proteins in this nature #CDlab paper: nature.com/articles/s4158… : - DNA loops can mutually exchange size. - Condensins can pass one another! - to form totally new type of ‘Z-loops' - that can fill DNA gaps - and can form a symmetric DNA-pulling dimer motor

I have much experience for RNA extraction and RT-PCR. I would help the test if samples are tranferred as TRIZOL-treated. BN may be able to use ML-2 lab that has been designed for bacteriophage research, if it needs. Anyway, the more tests the better.

My friends in SNU published very easy protocol for the test of COVID-19 virus by RT-PCR. It seems realistic in our labs in BN, if the materials are enoughly provided. researchgate.net/publication/33…

Slowly read the latest GlycoRNA paper (biorxiv.org/content/10.110…) and the original findings (doi.org/10.1016/j.cell…). Do you then think GlycoRNA, as originally described, is:

If you have been working or plan to work on #glycoRNA, please spend some #glycotime through this thread, because it is worthwhile knowing the risk you may encounter.
