Pain thread: People who have a learning disability may have difficulty describing and reporting pain. Evidence has demonstrated that people with a learning disability are less likely to receive analgesia than those without LD with the same condition

Making sure a persons baseline presentation is understood helps staff to identify if the person is experiencing pain

Carry out an effective person centred pain assessment. This should be adapted for the person with a learning disability you are supporting. Consider tools like the DisDat or create a pain profile
