One of the rare occasions I felt inspired to try and be ‘arty’: Emerson Fittipaldi at the Brands Hatch F1 tyre tests, 1980, plus one of an Arrows taken the same day 🤷🏼‍♂️ 🇬🇧 #F1

For some years Carlos Pace sported yellow arrows on his helmet, until - after he’d left Surtees and joined Brabham - a psychic told him that it meant bad luck. So, for the ‘74 North American GPs he squared them off, and from ‘75 on they were essentially reversed… 🇧🇷 #F1 #Moco

49 years ago tonight, 15-year-old me wended my way back to the midlands on public transport having witnessed Jean Pierre Beltoise victorious at Brands Hatch in the BRM P180 My Kodak Instamatic couldn’t cope with poor light, but I managed to salvage these 🤷🏼‍♂️ 🇬🇧 #F1 #VictoryRace

Hard to believe that exactly ten years have passed since we lost effervescent crowd favourite Marco Simoncelli… 🇮🇹 #MS58 #SuperSic #MotoGP

Pub quiz ammo! The last driver to lead a Formula 1 race whilst wearing an open-face helmet was Carlos Reutemann, at the 1974 Brands Hatch Race of Champions. His lead was short, however, as he crashed out on lap 7… 🇦🇷 #F1 #Lole #OpenFaceLid

Forty-four years ago today, on lap six the Japanese GP at Fuji, Ferrari’s new recruit Gilles Villeneuve missed his braking-point and rammed the back of Ronnie Peterson’s Tyrrell resulting in this spectacular accident. Sadly a marshal & a photographer lost their lives… 🇯🇵 #F1

Martin Brundle OBE I distinctly remember having similar thoughts about the visibility of the Lotus 72s when their new-for-1972 JPS livery was unveiled at the back end of ‘71 👀

Remembering boyhood hero Peter Gethin, who left us twelve years ago today, with images of his finest career moment, at Monza in 1971 Lap 55 of the Italian GP, only Parabolica left to go, one more push under braking, Ronnie makes a small mistake and victory was his 🏆 📷 unknown

This is the front cover of a book I was asked to write late last year. It will feature a lot of my Kodak Instamatic images taken throughout the 1970s when I was a kid, up to later years when I had a better camera and was working within the sport. There will also be some words!

Bizarre things you never thought would happen, part 81: finding myself at Shelsley Walsh looking at a book full of photos I took on the camera I’ve brought along to its first motorsport event since the 1977 British GP 😳

Thrilled and delighted that David Tremayne has seen fit to give my book 'Both Sides of the Barrier' such a fabulous review! Herewith is the article, published in his excellent GrandPrix+ ezine #383 and reproduced with his permission, which should be legible when expanded

Marking the 48th anniversary of Niki Lauda’s remarkable comeback at Monza with an unashamed plug for my book ‘Both Sides of the Barrier’. As a big fan of his from the time I first saw him race in ‘72, the book includes many photos I took of him on my humble Kodak Instamatic 📷
