Besides a blatant attempt to shut down democratic voices of dissent, this will have a devastating impact on the region's tourism sector. More than half of its population depends on tourism for a living. Is the Union govt afraid that Ajang Sonamlay will expose their border claims?

Why are we being punished for asking the Union govt to fulfill its own promises? Given this govt's track record in dealing with dissent, I fear for the safety of our people on the ground. Hopefully no one gets hurt but this is where things will get tense. #Ladakh #OmManiPadmeHum
