Fryer claiming that a fence at Stoke Lodge would be the same as if it had to meet planning standards. She also asked in 2018 that curtilage status be removed bc having to apply for permission would be β€œpivotal and devastating” - they’d never get it. It shouldn’t be there.

How deep does this go? The reasons given for refusing the cctv poles were basically damage to a heritage setting both physically and visually as well as privacy concerns. Why are the camera arrays and compounds any better?

204 daylight hours since the gates were locked on 15 January 2026 blocking all four Public Rights of Way. Cotham School have used the field for less than 10% of that time.

A tongue-in-cheek celebration of some sharp spiked fencing outside of Cotham’s fence, right next to an agreed and established public right of way with access to homes. Good old Lodger humour. 😁 instagram.com/reel/DUk4XKJCr…

Many people have gardens and studies that overlook Stoke Lodge. People take children and grandchildren to the play park and people walk to the shops and wait at bus stops. Over 90% of the time 20 acres of beautiful City land lies empty. What a waste.

Cotham School seems to be locked in the past, with poor planning advice & ridiculous risk assessments. Current DfE guidance does not support their knee-jerk desire to fence everything and teach kids to fear open space. But then it’s never been about the pupils. #OtherSchoolsCan

Last Friday of half term and Cotham School’s CCTV cameras are still blaring hostile messages to the public using Stoke Lodge. These cameras were declared unlawful by Bristol City Council planning team over 2 months ago but Cotham continues to spend ££ on surveillance not education.

Find a tree that fits your posture. Sit & use your senses to really β€˜know’ the woodland Don’t sit for a minute, sit for an hour. You start to be aware of things that weren’t there before, smells that appear from nowhere, feel leaf and branch debris on your face. 1/3

This week Cotham School conducted no PE lessons at Stoke Lodge at all - they used Golden Hill instead. One post-school game with RGS. For this they have squandered hundreds of thousands of pounds of public money. It’s never been about education, never been about safeguarding.

Is everyone enjoying Gone? Partly filmed at Downside School nr Radstock. Beautiful playing fields including a public footpath; pitches laid out either side. Yet Cotham School is about to waste multiple teacher salaries claiming they are unable to do same at Stoke Lodge! #landgrab

The reality is Jo Butler knows many other schools are perfectly capable of managing this. And she knows it’s not a safeguarding issue, and Ofsted doesn’t think playing fields must be fenced.

Down to 6%! Cotham School has used Stoke Lodge for just 6% of termtime daylight hours since it locked the gates & excluded everyone from using the field. They don’t want to use it but they don’t want YOU to use it either. They are breaching their lease & the law. Bristol City Council

When I went out for sun and air Cotham School just wasn’t there They weren’t there yet again today And still they block our rights of way. Cotham School uses less than 1/3 of Stoke Lodge for <6% of daylight hours. Bristol City Council @Bristol247 Darren Jones MP Open Spaces Society

Cotham School: Our kids need to do PE on grass! Even if 50% of lesson time is on 🚌 to Stoke Lodge! Let’s spend vast sums of ££ fencing it off so we have it all to ourselves! Also Cotham School: *prefers to hire artificial pitch at Golden Hill & leave SL locked, unused & empty*

Has anyone seen Cotham School? Hey, Cotham School, r u ok hun? Because over here at Stoke Lodge we haven’t seen you AT ALL this week! What about the hundreds of thousands of pounds you spent fencing the public out of Stoke Lodge? Are you just landbanking now?

Emma Burgess Cotham School In a whole MONTH they’ve been to Stoke Lodge 3 times. Once for ⚽️ after school v RGS (even tho RGS fields = closer for both) & for 2 x 45 min lessons on a Friday. But by all means, tell us again how you need the WHOLE of a 23 acre field 100% of the time. πŸ™„ Bristol City Council

We πŸ’š Stoke Lodge πŸƒπŸ’šπŸƒ If anyone else lease land from the council and that lease stipulated that their use was subject to current uses continuing, would they really allow privatisation of that land? Or is this just because it’s Sandra Fryer and Cotham School?
