What does Grand Junction's impending LDS temple mean to you? I would especially love to talk to current and former members of the faith for a story for Colorado Public Radio. Please feel free to share. Thank you! [email protected]

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park is still closed by a wildfire. The South Rim fire has grown to more than 1,600 acres. To the west, residents in Escalante Canyon could be forced to flee another fire. To the east, yet another fire is burning near Cimarron. Very scary.

Descendants of the 10th Mountain Division are in Italy, retracing their loved ones’ footsteps during WWII. Below, they’re singing the U.S. national anthem at the Florence American Cemetery before honoring each veteran, saying his name, followed by “presente!” Italian for present

Scott Leach, whose father fought in WWII, took part in Grand Junction’s large No Kings protest, which also included plenty of people dressed as inflatable chickens and dinosaurs — and at least one handmaid doing the Cupid Shuffle.

Conservative-leaning Mesa County ousted two of three school board members who ran as a conservative block in 2021. Vicki Woods and Kaci Cole will join Andrea Haitz, the sole incumbent reelected in D51. In the past, running on a political platform for this board wasn’t done
