Thinking of Jack Nicholson today, on his 87th birthday. Still the most electric, magnetic presence there’s ever been on the silver screen. A gift to us. What I’d give to see him come back for one last rodeo, much as I know it won’t happen. A well earned retirement, what a career.

All of these films premiered in 2015, all to glowing reviews, all with healthy box-office returns. And in their own ways, all utterly charming and moving.

I need this very specific genre to make a comeback asap.

Civil War on track for a $25m+ domestic opening weekend is fucking THRILLING to see for a non-IP, primarily female-led, bold and confronting film. Big credit to the smart marketing campaign. Whether the film is your bag or not, this is a sensational result for cinema.

Completely broken by Baby Reindeer on Netflix. Richard Gadd bears his soul in a vice-gripping, viciously funny, deeply upsetting cathartic excavation of his past traumas. Unflinchingly, painfully truthful. Those final two episodes in particular, knocked me for six.
