So sad that has died.
One of cinema's true originals.
He directed what is for me the finest British film ever made: Distant Voices, Still Lives.
Eight features and one anthology may be a short CV but it was always beguiling, seductive and fascinating.

Very sad to learn of Derek Malcolm's passing. It was his Film Club on BBC2 in the late 80s that really gave me a cinematic education. Two movies every Saturday night from around the world. Heaven for a teenager's obsession with cinema.
