It’s still #SecondChanceMonth , so for what it’s worth I’m dropping in on this terrible website to say: “We should be sickened and appalled by our Supreme Court jurisprudence that continues to tinker with the machinery of death in horrifyingly fascist ways.”montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/opinion/…
Hello. In almost exactly a month, Alabama, which regularly tops the list of the states in the U.S. that execute the most, “per capita,” has another lethal-injection execution planned. I have a few recycled, but nevertheless relevant musings about that here.finance.yahoo.com/news/stopping-…
FYI Next week, or next weekend, for those “on here” with an interest in the #deathpenalty , I have a 🆕oped that’ll be published in Alabama’s best newspaper, MontgomeryAdvertiser; it’s about “execution volunteers.” Also Alabama will conduct the next 🇺🇸 execution on May 30-31. And ICYMI:

One story that should have gotten much more attention on X—especially by all the people who post about the #deathpenalty —Gov. Ivey scheduled a July execution date for the next Black man to die by lethal injection in Alabama. Do you remember the last?

There’s lots of important news on X, but one story flying under the radar is: the anger over the arrest of the Mayor of Woodland Hills. The Mayor’s public defender will soon investigate it all—and I’ll post updates to this story as they continue to develop.montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/entertai…
In May 2017, I urged: “Demand that authorities in Alabama be honest and transparent about executions. Demand that death row inmates receive effective counsel and that they be treated fairly and humanely. Demand that torture be prohibited.” Hasn’t happened. montgomeryadvertiser.com/story/opinion/…
Today marks 10 years since the start of the Flint Water Crisis. Who wants to revisit my essay, “Why Flint's water crisis should give #deathpenalty supporters pause?”thegrio.com/2016/02/11/fli…
Breaking #deathpenalty news📰: Today, Gov. Kay Ivey scheduled Keith Gavin’s execution—by lethal injection—for July 18-19. If you want to learn more about the #deathpenalty in Alabama: Google my name—leaving out “reggae paparazzi”—“Alabama,” and “death penalty.” See what comes up.
It’s very interesting that the Legal Defense Fund is posting about Flint, Michigan’s water crisis as Donald Trump’s legal crises are on full display. It reminds me of when I published in the Detroit News, “Flint must top the president-elect’s agenda.” Link:detroitnews.com/story/opinion/…
Below this post is an interesting article the NAACP’s Legal Defense Fund has posted about the continuing consequences of Flint, Michigan’s lead-contaminated water. It reminded me “Why Flint's water crisis should give #deathpenalty supporters pause.”
