Thrilling third set goes to North over Independence, 25-23. The Falcons fought back from a 16-7 deficit to take a 23-22 lead before North won three straight points to close out the set. Kern High Network

Was supposed South at Independence tonight but left after they put me at a long table outside where I could only see 20 yards of the field. The table was so long that couldn’t scoot it up to the chain link fence. Plus they had me sitting on a bench that didn’t move.

I think I’m done covering high school football in Kern County. Too many schools just don’t care about coverage for their team. I think I will just go where I’m wanted (Bakersfield College).

So many football coaches beat themselves because they follow what the analytics say. I’m a sports statistician so I totally get analytics and believe in them, but you extend the game when you are trailing with 4:27 left.

Great job expanding the playoffs MLB. Now you have a 87-win, third place team in the Word Series and three 100-plus wins NL teams that will be watching the Fall Classic from home. The 162 game regular season means nothing. Might as well put everyone in the playoffs. It’s a joke.

CIF had the chance to do the right thing, but didn’t. It’s a travesty. The win is tainted and anything Torres does the rest of this season will be tainted. I feel terrible for the kids that’s worked countless hours to try and win a section title only to have this happen to them.

When will the adults realize that high school sports are about the kids? It’s about teaching teamwork, sportsmanship and integrity.
