Our incredible team in Shanghai represents the United States in a district that is home to over 240 million people. Today, I thanked them and Consul General Scott Walker for the complex but vital work they do each and every day.

In Beijing, Secretary Antony Blinken will meet with senior government officials for discussions on a range of issues, including the importance of continued progress to fulfill commitments made in California last fall.

Spoke with U.S. business leaders about the challenges and opportunities they face doing business here in China. I emphasized that both the U.S. and China can benefit from healthy economic competition, but that competition must be fair.

The American and Chinese students I spoke with at NYU Shanghai represent what is possible through exchanges. We seek responsible exchanges with China that would enable more Americans to study there, building connections between our peoples.
