During our last survey, we counted a total of 19 eggs visible in nests. We were able to observe 5 chicks, but as many as 6 other nests contain chicks that couldn't be seen. Watch these birds @parkboard's Heron Cam.

During our last survey we observed fewer birds, but this can be explained by herons spending more time hunting, or by nests becoming hidden by new tree leaves. If you are around the colony, start watching for heron chicks! vancouver.ca/parks-recreati……

At this time of year, coyotes across Vancouver are settling into dens to raise their young.

To support coexistence, please:
✔️ Give them plenty of space
✔️ Keep dogs close and on leash
✔️ Respect trail closures
❌ Don't feed wildlife

On our 1st survey of the season, we observed 62 occupied nests, & 94 herons in the area. Most of the birds were gathering sticks, BUT there appear to be some early birds: with two nests showing signs of incubation.
