For the first time, an international team obtained a high-resolution continuous record of environmental data from shallow-water corals off the coast of Hawai’i by coring fossil coral reefs.

The left core has more organic rich matter, referred to as Sapropel, which is known for its darker #color .

The right core encountered a mass transport event, where the #sediment layers were churned up, possibly due to an #underwater landslide.
