#OTD in 1666, the #GreatFireOfLondon started in Pudding Lane. By the next day, it had reached the steps of St Paul’s. Writer and eyewitness John Evelyn wrote, “the stones of [St] Paules flew like [grenades]…” and the pavements glowed red with heat.

Stirring words from Reverend Raphael Warnock at St Paul's Cathedral, commemorating #MartinLutherKing 's sermon at this very pulpit 60 years ago while on his way to collect his Nobel Prize. Rev Warnock happens to be pastor at the same church in Atlanta where MLK was pastor. Lovely resonances.

A pleasure to hear Reverend Raphael Warnock speak St Paul's Cathedral tonight, reflecting on Rev Martin Luther King Jnr’s speech at the cathedral 60 years ago. My key takeaway from his message: MLK had a dream. What is your dream and what are you willing to sacrifice for it?
