It's been just over a year since we celebrated our eldest son's Bar Mitzvah amidst my hectic 2nd year, juggling deadlines, hospitalisations and placement. In less than a year, we'll be celebrating the next one! Hoping for a calmer time, but with me being an NQN then, who knows?

After a refreshing early morning swim UoSSport 🏊‍♂️, I booked a private study room to prepare for my upcoming OSCE in Salford Uni Library, surrounded by nature's beauty outside my window. Grateful for this peaceful haven, equipped with comfort and amenities. 📚

Preparing my CV as I'm starting to job search. When listing employment history, should I include as far back as 18 years ago since starting work at 18, or focus on the more recent roles? Most of the earlier years are in similar fields.

Nursing jobs at my trust have been pulled, and students can no longer be offered a job from placements; we can only apply the formal route. I'm cautiously optimistic, knowing there should be vacancies. For those in the know, should I be worried? I'm due to qualify in September.

Now that the poll has concluded, what can we glean from the 53% who don't consistently use slide sheets? Is it a matter of lacking education, time, resources or training? How important is it to recognise this and if so, what steps can we take to address and mitigate it?

Since the time change, I've been adjusting the clocks on my shifts. It's surprising to find some still unchanged. It's the little things like having the correct time that can make a big difference for patients lying in bed all day. Friendly reminder to check your clocks at work!

I've noticed a worrisome trend where patients return to the hospital soon after discharge. Are we discharging them too early or overlooking crucial post-discharge support? This is particularly prevalent among long-term patients. Why is this happening, and how can it be improved?

Working in healthcare offers a unique way of connecting with people. In just one shift, we build deep connections with our patients due to the intimate caring nature of our work. Serving and being there for people when they're vulnerable is an honour I don't take lightly.
