A huge 'thank you' to our visiting West Lothian College guests (Tomasz, Ross and Gordon) who taught us about pneumatics and air powered vehicles. We had a fantastic time and learned lots!

A huge thank you to our visiting parent speakers, who kindly came in to share some of their personal experiences of STEAM. We heard lots about programming, space technology and even got to try out some scientific equipment.

Today, P1 were joined by Graeme Binnie from West Lothian College who delivered his award winning woodwork session. P1 drew some pictures then used timber and woodworking tools, under adult supervision, to turn their drawings into wooden sculptures. Thanks Graeme!

St Joseph’s STEAM week continued today with our P1-P4 classes taking part in events within the school. We had lots of activities happening across the school throughout the day. More events will take place tomorrow for our P5-P7 classes.

Our STEAM week continued on Thursday with our P5-P7 classes taking part in lots of fun activities within the school. We did some work on team construction, ‘gutterball’, bottle flip challenges, Building Thinking Classrooms and coding using BBC Microbits.

Thank you to Mrs Haigh who kindly came in to speak to us about her work in engineering and bridge construction. We learned about ways that bridges are transported and how engineering can change peoples lives.

This week at St Joseph's, we started our 'Project Based Learning' sessions. P6 have chosen to develop their creativity, team working and communication skills by taking part in a range of activities such as creating an art portfolio, sewing clothes for toys and creating 3D models.

Thank you to everyone who made it along to our 'Play Based Learning' parent event yesterday. The children enjoyed sharing their learning with their family members.

Today we welcomed the nursery children who will begin P1 in August. The children had the chance to meet their new 'buddies' and spent some time playing together in the playground. More photos are available on our school blog.

The pop-up shop will visit us tomorrow, Wednesday 26th June, from 12-4pm with a wide range of clothing at hugely reduced prices. The pop up shop is open to all families, no booking required. St Joseph’s Fashion Show will also take place tomorrow, however this is a ticketed event.

P1 and P7 have taken some time to get to know one another through social games and spending time with one another. Today we had lots of fun playing games in the hall.

On Monday 2nd September, Dr Bike will be visiting St Joseph's on a mission to help every child have a cycle-worthy bike. If you have a bike at home, which is in need of repair, please bring it to school on Monday and the doctor will try to repair it for free.

P7 took part in a visit to Sky Up Academy in Livingston today. We researched our topic (A.I) then the team at Sky helped us share all this information by creating a news report. P7 parents can see our report via the QR code on the sky up card which your child brought home.
