The Lunchtime Lecture this week is titled 'The Power of Sleep' and is delivered by Mr Johnson. In this he'll discuss the importance of sleep and how important it is in our daily lives, as well as how you can use it to improve revision techniques amongst many other things. [1]

…and submit their findings to the book award's organisers. Once all the reviews are in from across the county, a shortlist will be drawn up. The book titles on this shortlist will then be distributed to the participating schools. [3]

The pupils will have the opportunity to read, review and discuss their opinions with other participating schools. The overall winner will be announced at the beginning of July with a ceremony taking place in Preston. [4]

Today it was Year 7s turn to celebrate #WorldBookDay. We had lots of pupils and staff dressed up as their favourite literary characters, raising money for the school library in the process. [1]

As part of our school-wide commitment to reading for pleasure they received a book funded by our school library in form time, following on from our Year 8 and 9 students receiving theirs earlier in the week. [2]

This year, they could select from 'Lego: Our Amazing Universe', 'The Fart that Broke World Book Day' & 'The Soccer Diaries: Rocky Takes the Lead' which are all promoted as part of World Book Day 2025. It's been loads of fun! [3] #ReadYourWay

This week's Lunchtime Lecture is titled 'A rose by any other name…' and covers one of the biggest taboo's in English Literature, was "Shakespeare" pseudonym. Come along to S2 from 1:45pm. As always Year 11 pupils from main school are warmly invited.
